CONNECTAMERICAS, the first social network for businesses in the Americas

ConnectAmericas aims to help small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region to expand market access abroad. Since its launch on March 28 at the IDB’s annual Meeting in Brazil, the website received more than 10,500 visits and more than 3,000 have registered.

INT encourages countries to diversify exports

In El Salvador, 40% of the value of exports is generated by only 10 firms that trade a handful of products. This makes the country vulnerable to external shocks, such as a fall in the prices of exported commodities or lower demand in traditional export markets. In such circumstances, countries are encouraged to diversify exports.

Pacific Alliance Proceeds with Trade Protocol Signing

The VIII Presidential Summit of the Pacific Alliance (PA), held in Cartagena, Colombia, last February 10, saw the signing of the Business Protocol Addendum to the Framework Agreement Establishing the PA. This Protocol was painstakingly negotiated among the four countries and marks a major step toward accomplishing the objectives set by the Alliance leaders with respect to the free movement of goods, services, and people.
