Enhancing development effectiveness through improved transparency
Transparency matters for development effectiveness. Access to easy to understand data on development spending and results provides greater accountability to stakeholders, while enabling improved country planning and donor coordination.
The IDB redoubled its commitment to transparency in November 2011 by signing onto the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) at the Fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan, Korea. IATI provides a common standard for development financing information so users are able to access data from different development partners in a single location and format. The IDB publishes updated IATI datasets each quarter and makes ongoing enhancements as outlined in its IATI implementation schedule.
In addition to its commitment to IATI, with the implementation of its MapAmericas platform, the IDB publishes geo-referenced data on Bank-supported operations, including those at the sub-national level. The IDB also supports AidFlows, a partnership with the World Bank, OECD, and other regional development banks to track development financing flows from the perspective of both providers and recipients of financing.
