Odette Maciel joined the Office of Evaluation and Oversight (OVE) as Economics Senior Associate in 2017. Shealso worked for three years as a Research Fellow in OVE (2013-2016) where she collaborated in several evaluations, including: a comparative evaluation of the IDB Support to the Conditional Cash Transfer programs in Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala; a comparative evaluation of the IDB support to low-income housing programs in the Caribbean; and in various Country Program Evaluations (Colombia, Bolivia, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname and Guyana).
Prior to her current role, she worked as a consultant in the World Bank’s Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice where she collaborated in the design of quantitative and qualitative instruments to identify the characteristics, constraints and opportunities to start and grow household enterprises among poor families in Tanzania. As part of this tasks, she also co-facilitated training to recruiters and moderators and supervised data collection in that country.
In Mexico, she worked at the Ministry of Social Development where she was a core team member in the drafting of the National Social Development Strategy 2007-2012; and in the Executive Office of the President of Mexico (2008-2011) on topics related to poverty reduction, social policy, labor economics and public finance.Her professional experience also includes working in Indonesia at the National Team for Accelerating Poverty Reduction (TNP2K). She holds a Master in Public Administration in International Development fromHarvard Kennedy School, and a dual-Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Political Science from ITAM in Mexico.
