The Office of External Relations (EXR) heads all external and internal strategic communications for the Bank, including corporate communications and positioning, branding, content and message development, stakeholder and media relations, risk/crisis management communications, and development communications, as well as communications in support of partnership-building and the IDB’s social responsibility platform.
The Office of External Relations serves as the principal advisory unit to the President on communications. The Office is responsible for managing the Bank’s image and helping position the institution in traditional and non-traditional national and international media; develop crisis management strategies; plan regional media outreach efforts; manage the IDB website; provide communications support to Vice Presidencies and Departments; ensure the quality control and publication of all books that originate in the Board of Governors, Board of Executive Directors, Office of the Presidency, Office of the Executive Vice President, and EXR itself; and manage the Bank’s cultural programs.
